Adam Kennedy, e-commerce manager for online vitamin emporium Healthy Direct, singled out nutritional imbalances, prostate health and low self-esteem as some of the most common reasons for a lack of erotic enthusiasm in the boudoir.

"It could be anything which can have an impact on the production of testosterone," explained Mr Kennedy.

"People with circulation conditions can have problems relating to erectile dysfunction [and] there are issues for women of menopausal age as their libido decreases," he added.

Adam, probably a hero to horny health enthusiasts everywhere by now, pointed out the results of research by Durex which reveal that the world's top three sexual enhancers are pornography, massage oils and lubricants.
