A robber in Leicester who successfully held up a bookies with a vibrator was sentenced to five years on Monday (August 20th).

The thief, wielding a sex toy disguised as a gun, managed to force the manager of the Ladbrokes to hand over £600.

The court heard how robber, Nicki Jex, 27, hid the vibrator in a plastic bag so that it looked like a weapon and pointed it at the manager while demanding the cash.

Presiding over the case at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Philip Head, said: "It's right to record that you did not have a firearm but you pretended you had and intended that those you confronted believed that you did, and it must have been truly terrifying for them at the time."

The court was told that Jex was a drug addict with a string of previous convictions dating back to February 2002.
