Over half of women who have been married for more than 20 years would be happy to be in a sexless relationship with their spouse, a new survey has revealed.

A poll, conducted for First magazine, has found that across all ages 37 per cent of those asked said that they didn't need to have sex with their man, despite 72 per cent saying that they still found their husbands attractive, reports the Daily Mail.

Four in ten also admitted that they would rather get some retail therapy than hop into bed with their other half.

Many admitted that even their wedding nights weren't the hotbed of love that they had expected, with a third saying that they didn't get up to anything.

"Considering that sex is a healthy part of a loving relationship and is an important way of physically and psychologically connecting with your partner, something is clearly wrong," said relationship psychologist Anjula Mutanda.
