Older residents of one Chilean town look set to get on with getting down after their mayor decided to give them free Viagra.

Gonzalo Navarrete, who is a physician by profession, explained to reporters that he decided to act after hearing blokes in Lo Prado complaining about not getting enough nookie.

He decided to make the erection-boosting medicine available to men aged 60 and older in the town, which is near Chilean capital Santiago.

Although he emphasised that the pills will not be handed out willy-nilly (sorry!) "like candy", Mr Navarrete said he is determined to improve the "quality of life" of his patients.

"We'll give out four 50-milligram pills - in other words, for four sexual relationships - per month," he explained to Las Ultimas Noticias.

He went on to remind randy wrinklies that the pills don't work unless accompanied by some "direct stimulation" - message received loud and clear sir!

According to reports, if the kindly mayor's scheme is successful then it will be rolled out all over Chile – lucky Latin lovers.
