Women in Ecuador could soon enjoy a legal right to good sex in their relationship, thanks to one enterprising politician.

Erotic enthusiast Maria Soledad Vela wants to include a "right to good sex" in the country's next constitution, meaning women could demand regular orgasms by law.

Reuters reports that officials have written off her idea as ridiculous, but the mum-of-two will continue to campaign against what she says is a "male-dominated society".

"I think even if my proposal generated laughs and ridicule, some parts of society are re-thinking what really is a healthy sexual relationship and sexual pleasure," she told the news provider.

According to the 45-year-old, women in Ecuador are forced to serve as sexual objects and her proposal would pave the way for gender equality.

If Ms Vela's lusty legislation ever does get the green light, her country could well move up the global sex chain.

Ecuadoreans will still have some way to go, however, before they outdo Greece's horny inhabitants.

In the most recent survey of world bonking trends carried out by condom emporium Durex, Greeks were revealed to get their leg over a record 138 times a year, putting the global average of 103 to shame.
