Pop pixie Kylie Minogue is the top dating choice for half of British blokes, according to a new poll.

Relationship analysts asked a selection of 1,000 singletons who would top their 'romantic rich list' - yes, a list of the rich totty they'd most like to date.

Loaded business buff Richard Branson was top choice for participating chicas (would you? Really?), while wrinkly rocker Paul McCartney landed a close second with a quarter of female votes.

Regardless of the results, psychiatrist and dating expert Dr Victoria Lukats maintained the UK "really is not a nation of gold diggers".

"Surveys asking people what they find attractive in others have shown that personality factors and looks are cited as being far more important than wealth by the vast majority of people," she explained.

"The rankings were probably influenced more by perceived personal qualities - kindness, sense of humour, passion, ambition, enthusiasm, likeability, charisma and talent - as well as looks and style," she added.

Harry Potter scribe JK Rowling was second choice for the boys, while uber-model Kate Moss (and her estimated £40 million fortune) limped in at a lowly number four.
