He may be turning 58 next week, but Richard Gere still reckons he's hot stuff - especially his arse!

The ageing strumpet melted hearts as prim Edward in Pretty Woman and set them racing as dating lothario Julian in American Gigolo - but that was the 80s, and don't things start to sag?

Doesn't look like Gere thinks so! In his new movie, The Hunting Party, Gere plays a has been war correspondent who heads back into the field with a new rookie (Terrance Howard) to hunt for Bosnia's most wanted war criminal, The Fox.

However, during the filming of the action packed flick, Gere made clear that his assets were still in peak condition by refusing to have a stunt bum and preferring to show off his bare cheeks himself.

Speaking to US TV show Extra:, director Richard Shepard said: "We had a butt double standing by but it wasn't needed.

"It didn't take a lot to persuade Richard to get his own rear out."
