Trying to find the fabled G-spot is best left until a woman is already very aroused, apparently.

Although many bonking boffins continue to argue over its actual existence, the crew with the anatomical know-how at Ireland's Hot Press concluded that a certain sensitive area on the front wall of the vagina "is capable of giving great pleasure".

"Generally speaking the G-spot is about a third of the way up the vaginal opening," the team explained.

They went on to acknowledge that, unlike the clitoris, the elusive inner lust button "can be tricky to locate" and doesn't always respond to stimulation.

"For most women this area is not sensitive until she is already very aroused, so honing in on it at the start of foreplay isn't a man's best bet," they continued.

Top tips for hitting the arousal hotspot include making sure the bladder is empty (ie pee before you start the fun stuff), choosing a position that's comfortable and enlisting the help of a vibrator if needs be.

Vaginal explorers should then start around two centimetres up and make 'come here' motions with their fingers against the vagina, pressing firmly on the way up.

"You're looking for an area that is either swollen or a different texture," noted the Hot Press hotties.
