Are you in a healthy, sexual satisfying and long-term relationship? Well, if so, the likelihood is that you're a feminist, according to a new study.

Researchers at Rutgers University in the US have revealed that, of 242 undergraduates and 289 older adults polled, those who identified at least one of their couple as a feminist were experiencing a better relationship than those who didn't.

Laurie Rudman and Julie Phelan, who conducted the report, quizzed both men and women over the quality and stability of their relationships and their levels of sexual satisfaction.

Men with a feminist partner reported greater stability and a better sex life, while women with a feminist partner also had healthier heterosexual relationships.

Writing in the journal Sex Roles, Rudman and Phelan said that they hoped the report disqualified unflattering feminist stereotypes that tended to stigmatise feminists as unattractive and sexually unappealing.
