The art of burlesque - as championed by Dita Von Teese - is a "fun and sophisticated" branch of erotica which celebrates the female body in its many forms.

So says one satisfied spectator who nipped along to last month's International London Burlesque Festival and was thrilled by the "great community spirit" in evidence.

Erotica enthusiast Celina Ribeiro told the Tribune about her experience, jokily remarking: "As I stepped through the doors and saw a woman with bright red lipstick and 1950s coiffed hair, I knew it would all end in tassels."

Suggesting that audience members get into an appropriate spirit of sassiness before they even leave the house, Celina explained that she could not tell observers and dancers apart in the queue for the bathroom.

"It turned out that the young woman in the rubber corset was part of the next act, but the one in a swimsuit and fishnets had just come to watch," she quipped.

Concluding that the art of burlesque provides "a bloody load of fun" for an eager audience, Celina pointed out to readers that the popularity of the art continues to surge.

All because the ladies loves a good flesh-fest!
