Clever girls are not as satisfied in the bedroom as they think too much, according to a new survey.

The research, which was carried out by a German website, found that 62 per cent of ladies who had finished their education had problems reaching an orgasm.

It was compared to only 38 per cent of women who reported having this problem who had a lower qualification.

The survey reviewed 2,000 women between the ages of 18 and 49, and said that the brainier ones were less satisfied by sex as they were too busy thinking.

A recent expert advised that to achieve a better climax couples should be emotionally close.

German scientists found that despite the frequency of sex declining as the relationship continues an increase in satisfaction was seen, meaning literally less is more.

Dr Ulrike Brandenburg told the Local that while he found the result "astonishing", the emotional intensity seemed to improve the quality of an orgasm.
