One in three Brits have admitted to using the internet in order to start a sexual relationship.

A new poll, conducted by the Sun's Dear Deidre, has revealed that ten per cent of these individuals have had sex with 11 or more people that they met online. A further quarter said that they had committed adultery using the internet.

Of those who use the net to surf for porn (80 per cent), men were the majority, with two-thirds revealing their habit.

"As agony aunt of The Sun, hearing from readers every day, I have been amazed over recent years by the way the internet and mobile phones have affected how we form relationships, how we behave within them, how many sex partners we have and even what we do with them in the privacy of our own homes," said Deidre.

She went on to say that the use of the internet had facilitated "rapid social change like no other I have seen".
