Unabashed artists in South Africa have let their imaginations run free for an erotic exhibition in Durban's Kizo gallery.

Taking place until next week, Intimate Confessions features a colourful array of sculpture and picture-based naughtiness, so the local press have suggested.

Curator Nathi Gumede told Sowetan that although the sexy show has attracted controversy, anything that gets matters of the flesh out in the open can never be bad.

"An exhibition of this nature [is] very relevant as it brings issues of intimacy and sex into the public domain for our communities to debate," he remarked.

"It is important that artists cover issues relating to sex since they have remained taboo for generations, indirectly contributing to the myth around the subject and the resultant consequences," he added.

The release of Durex's latest Sexual Wellbeing survey this week let the world know that some of the hottest orgasms are currently experienced in exotic climes.

Guess we should listen up when South Africa's artists offer a sex-based lesson or two then, eh?
